Web Design Manchester - Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the process of refining and improving a website and its support structure (in-bound links and related resources) to improve its performance in the “natural” search result listings.
Over time, the position at which a site naturally appears for a particular search term changes based on factors such as competition, frequency of content updates, changes to search engine listing algorithms and many more.
We offer a range of packages aimed at improving and maintaining the performance of a site for a selection of key phrases. The service pricing is based on the number of target keywords/key phrases.
As part of our work, we focus on the following factors:
- Building quality links (i.e. from sites with a page rank)
- Creating varied link sites and link text
- Building relevant links (i.e. from sites with similar content)
- Increasing overall in-bound link volumes
- Generating traffic from other sites/sources
- Creating links which sometimes rank in the search engines themselves
- Producing well optimised landing pages for linking to
Each of the following tasks is carried out per promotional keyword:
- Keyword research – establishing which terms are relevant and receive enough hits per month to make them worthwhile targeting.
- Analysis of competing websites – investigating what the best performing competitors are doing to see if we can identify any quick wins.
- Set up of the primary keyword landing page – we create one new page on the site for each target keyword.
- One/two videos created and distributed to multiple sites like YouTube – YouTube is the second most used search engine in the World. We create a couple of generic videos and set a new channel up.
- One article written and distributed to multiple article directories – potentially 1000+ depending on the market sector, all providing in-bound links to the target site e.g. http://ezinearticles.com.
- Web 2.0 site set up – this is the creation of a microsite (single page, short website) on a web directory such as Squidoo which is a community of single page websites.
- Commencement of bookmarking tasks – indexing the site on social bookmarking sites such as http://digg.com, carried out monthly.
- Commencement of directory submission tasks – ongoing work to increase the number of inbound links to the target site by using relevant web directories e.g. http://www.01dir.info/index.php.
- Commencement of blog posting tasks – ongoing work to source suitable guest blog sites on which to feature articles about the target site.
- Commencement of classified ad submission tasks – submitting information about the target site to classified advert directories e.g. http://www.gumtree.com.
- One press release submission – creation of a press release which is submitted through our syndication tools to various third party websites.
Note that not all tasks will necessarily be completed during the first month of work – if we over-promote the site we may risk being penalised by Google and the other search engines for spamming.
The benefit from this work is increased search engine visibility for not only the keywords we promote, but for related terms too.
We have a three month minimum contract for this service with one month’s notice required for cancellation, but advise being prepared to run with it for at least six to twelve months as it can take some time for this work to bear fruit. As with any form of marketing, it isn’t guaranteed, but the overall aim is to increase the number of inbound links to/references for the target site from relevant directories and websites, and ultimately to make the search engines believe the site is more important.
