However, Ruby is not a practical solution for every development project for a variety of reasons. In such cases we tend to turn to PHP which we have over a decade of experience in developing with. The drawback with PHP is that you tend to end up creating masses of function files for completing the simplest of tasks which a framework such as RoR can handle out of the box. As a solution we have begun to use the Yii Framework to develop in.
